We always leave brainstorming sessions feeling invigorated, filled with ideas for the client and tons of inspiration for our own business. Just shifting our focus to a different industry can help trigger ideas that would otherwise never present themselves.
But for many organizations, brainstorms can be expensive and out of reach. We want to extend the opportunity to develop ideas to other marketers who’d like to do some good, while taking a break from their daily routines, and getting creative.

Brainstorm for Good is a two-hour brainstorming session (facilitated by UpHouse) where groups will mastermind marketing ideas for a charitable organization we’ve partnered with for the event.

What’s in it for the marketers?

  • You’ll inspire good marketing for a charitable organization

  • You’ll get to meet and network with new creative people

  • You’ll gain insight by focusing on a different marketing goal or challenge (pro tip: make sure to write down key takeaways or inspiration before the event wraps)

What's in it for the not-for-profit?

  • A bunch of new brains working on their marketing challenge

  • Blue-sky and actionable marketing ideas they can implement right away

  • Exposure for the cause to a room full of good people

Here’s how it will look:

  1. We’ll break out into small groups or pitch teams (a mix of strangers) so you get to work with marketers from different companies

  2. We’ll start with an icebreaker to get to know each other and break that ice.

  3. The not-for-profit partner outlines the challenge.

  4. The teams get an hour to brainstorm concepts, campaign ideas, and any marketing tactics that might address the need (a range of practical and blue sky ideas).

  5. We’ll keep you posted on time remaining, then sound a bell when the time’s up. All teams will have five minutes to present their ideas to the rest of the group and to the not-for-profit.

  6. At the end of each pitch, we’ll leave time for people to ask questions and make suggestions to build on the ideas. (This is where you’ll want to take notes on any takeaways you could apply to your own organization or product you market.)

  7. Wrap up and head home or stay and have a drink with your new creative pals.
